Morocco

Posted in Photo on 12:45, August 13th, 2010

Finally managed to sit myself down and dig through 900+ pics I took in Morocco to select just 38 moderately good ones. It was very hard to concentrate and make proper pictures due to immense heat (+45C far from the ocean) and fast speed of our group. I wish I had more time to find proper angles and view but alas. Hope these pictures bring the atmosphere.

Also kudos to Sony for making such a great camera. It worked perfectly in complex conditions and it’s easy to operate it. Rather nice picture quality, impressive HD video, sweep panorama and of course small size and weight makes it my favourite camera at the moment. Though the lens that comes in the kit isn’t that great, but I’ll replace it with proper one later.

Pic update

Posted in Photo on 11:51, July 5th, 2010

So, here goes another picture update. These are two considerably ok pictures I took last weekend. I’m very happy with my camera, I always have an urge to make pics with it, yet I’m still learning it, so I hope with time the images will be a bit better and less Photoshop would be applied ;)

This panorama below was created with new feature implemented in the camera called Sweep Panorama. You just hold it and rotate your torso 90 degrees from left to right and camera makes nonstop shooting while you’re rotating. Here’s the result. I’m sure I can make it better by adjusting everything manually. But let’s start with auto mode ok? Click on it to see in a bit bigger size.

Changing gear

After 4 years of weak usage I finally sold my Nikon D80. I never really liked this camera due to alot of reasons: it’s big and heavy and I never really liked images it produces. Yes they were sharp and all, but there was no that finish which I so liked in my old Sony 717. So as you can see I stopped putting images here on my site just because I never was truly satisfied with them. Maybe I’m just too lame for that camera, and maybe I had to edit them in Photoshop for the release, but it turned that I’m too weak for it and not so dedicated. So, the decision came after the year of pondering and I finally sold it on auction for quite ok price. And I wasn’t even sure with what camera I’m gonna replace it.

During the week of selling process I started digging dpreview.com for the new camera. And to my surprise I found very new one from Sony – NEX-5. Whole idea if this camera repeats my old Sony 717: tilting screen (quite big and sharp now), live view, etc. But adds another new cool features like HDTV movie and replaceable lenses. So my soul was sold instantly and I started to wait for it to appear on sale, and bought it the week it started to be available. I hope I’ll return to my humble photo hobby with it because it’s small and comfy and produces great pictures. Here are two silly images I took today when going to work.

Photogallery is back!

Posted in Photo on 16:04, August 12th, 2008

Thanks to the almighty briton Pauk “the busy” Healey I’ve got alot of disk space for my photogallery. There’s no new images so far, only old archive. But I promise to add new images from my Thailand and Croatia trips as soon as possible, stay tuned!

On a side note i’d like to thank the development team of the Plogger engine. This engine is indeed not bloated and heavy. It’s very functional and easy to use thing. It’s not that mess of the gallery I used ot have before. Plogger is highly recommended for those who’s looking for the proper image gallery.

Wicked warm winter

Since this December is relatively smooth here in Moscow I decided to take a trip to Botanical garden. The journey ended up in the closed Japanese garden, but i managed to get there and take some pics. Enjoy :)

I decided that I’ll upload some random images which I consider moderately interesting. They’ll have fixed 500px width.

First Experience

Posted in Photo on 21:50, October 29th, 2006

I went out to take some pics with my new camera today. Nothing very spectacular or artistic or special. Just first test in the fields. I’m generally pleased with the quality of photos and possibilities of the camera. Still, I’ll have to get used to its controls and features. The place I went was the museum of locomotives not far from my house. I wanted to visit it for quite some time, but had no real reason to do that. The weather conditions weren’t perfect for shooting, there was wind and grey clouds and occasional rains, but such is life. Enjoy.

So here it’s new hardware

Posted in Photo on 16:22, October 20th, 2006

nikonlogo_i.gifAfter long time spent on the photoforums and reading Phil Askey’s full review of Canon 400D I decided what camera to buy… It is Nikon D80. So I went and did it. Now I’m proud owner of this uber complex piece of japanese hardware. I promised pics as I get new camera but it turned that to get proper images I’m pleased with I have to spend some time learning how to use this camera. It’s not that easy as one might think. The possibilities are endless there… It’s like Photoshop which looks simple at the first glance but has vast number of tricks hidden and useable after some time spent on it. So, you just take some patience while I’m taking my time developing my SLR camera skills to deliver you new pictures.
